My hood scoop has collected quite a few bugs. Finally got around to cleaning off my intercooler the other day and was picking out dead bugs of all sorts. So it is kind of like a trash collector already!

The evolution of the Subaru hood scoop genuinely fascinates me. From the 90s to the mid-2000s it was a plastic insert stuck in a hole cut in the hood, and it seemed to increase in size every generation and facelift. Then in the mid-late 2000s they finally integrated the scoop in the metal of the hood, and in the process the opening became lower and more streamlined.
Even more fascinating to me, that change only came after a few years of integrated scoop on the Legacy GT/Outback XT. And before that the Baja Turbo, which, to my knowledge, was the first Subaru to actually integrate the scoop in the sheetmetal of the hood.
